Robert Wilson was born in 1942 and grew up in the beautiful Towac Valley near Orange in Western NSW. Robert now lives and works by the water in a small village in the Royal National Park NSW.
Near and Far Horizons is a magnificent body of new works exploring the Australian landscape from the vast dry red outback to the majestic old forest “ribbon” gums in rich verdant rural country.
Using a strong rich palette Wilson captures the unique light, power, and vastness of the Australian landscape. Robert asks us to observe an ancient land and to dwell upon the importance of place and our own understanding of the part we play in it.
Wilson spends most of his time travelling and painting in the Australian outback, capturing weather patterns, bushland fauna and flora and rural pastoralist scenery.
I appreciate having my memories captured so faithfully in Robert’s work and know you will enjoy quietly observing his appreciation and love of the Australian rural landscape in Near and Far Horizons Gina Oldham – Director Altenburg Gallery
